St. Joseph Community Chorus Kicks Off Season with Pipes, Pipes, and Pipes Concert

St. Joseph, MO - Get ready for a musical extravaganza as the St. Joseph Community Chorus (SJCC) raises the curtain on their first concert of the season, "Pipes, Pipes, & Pipes," scheduled for Sunday afternoon, October 22. This promises to be an unforgettable event featuring world-class talent and an exciting program that will captivate audiences of all ages.

SJCC’s collaborative artist for the show is none other than Grammy award-nominated organist Jan Kraybill. Audiences will have the unique opportunity to not only witness Jan Kraybill accompany the chorus but also treat themselves to a special set of music she has crafted exclusively for St. Joseph audiences. For enthusiasts of the organ, this promises to be a rare and thrilling experience.

Adding to the enchantment, SJCC's Chamber Choir will enchant listeners with their renditions of classic compositions, including Vaughan Williams's "Let All The World In Every Corner Sing" and JS Bach's "Jesus bleibet meine Freude."

The concert also shines a spotlight on promising young talent as two of the chorus's high school Dunning Scholarship winners, Taylee Parmenter and CJ Ka’ahea, take the stage. Their performances will undoubtedly demonstrate the bright future of the musical arts.

A true highlight of the evening is the performance of "Floretum," a composition penned by SJCC's exceptionally talented artistic director, Timothy Jon Tharaldson. This magnificent piece, which blooms with creativity and imagination, will feature Jan Kraybill on the organ and the celebrated bass vocalist, Dr. Paul Hindemith. The term "Floretum" refers to a collection of flowers, and this composition, like a vibrant garden, showcases an array of musical colors and shapes, weaving together diverse motifs to create a rich tapestry of sound. The libretto describes the life of St. Benedict as only lyricist Euan Tait can.

"We encourage you to explore the intricate melodies and harmonies of Timothy Jon Tharaldson’s 'Floretum,'" says Greg Dixon, President of SJCC, extending an open invitation to both seasoned classical music aficionados and newcomers to immerse themselves in the beauty of contemporary classical music and witness the boundless creativity of a modern-day composer.

"Pipes, Pipes, and Pipes" will take center stage on Sunday, October 22, at the First Presbyterian Church located at 301 N 7th, St. Joseph, MO, starting at 3 PM. Tickets are affordably priced: Students enjoy free admission, while adults can secure their seats for just $12, and seniors aged 55 and above can enjoy the show for just $10. Tickets can be purchased at the door or conveniently online at www.stjoechorus.org/tickets.
